Del Mar, California – On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the 7th Annual HorseTech Conference will take place in Del Mar, California, on the eve of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the world’s biggest racing event where 10,000s of fans will witness the crowning of 14 new world champions. One of the speakers at the conference will be Pierce Dargan, Chief Executive of Kildare-based business Equine MediRecord (EMR). EMR will provide their equine welfare compliance software platform for the 2024 Breeders’ Cup World Championships later this week on November 1st & 2nd at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in California.

The conference will welcome some of the most successful and passionate equestrians, breeders, owners, veterinarians, investors, and innovators with backgrounds in data science, animal welfare, medical devices, life sciences, and technology. The conference will highlight the latest advancements aimed at optimizing the performance of the world’s elite equine athletes and their jockeys. They will also have presentations exploring how technology is being used around the world to bring a vibrant future for horses, riders, and the invaluable equestrian heritage.

The new system EMR has developed for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Del Mar will automatically inform trainers from across the world of the safety and integrity regulations, including those that have been introduced by the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA), that need to be followed, along with what documents need to be submitted through the system to allow horses to run in the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar. The Breeders’ Cup has long been a leader in creating and adopting world-class regulations to ensure the welfare and safety of the human and equine athletes competing at its event.

The Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar joins an impressive list of EMR clients, including 1S/T Racing, the British Horseracing Authority, the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia, Racing Victoria, and the Arabian Racing Organization. EMR first provided their system to the Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2020. EMR has developed a new system to help connections comply with this year’s rules and regulations pertaining to equine welfare and anti-doping protocols. In 2022, EMR received a multi-million-dollar investment from Merit Holdings, who own Business Infusions, the largest equine veterinary software group in the world. EMR has now also joined the Business Infusions group.

EMR already boasts a number of endorsements from key stakeholders in the United States, including the Executive Director of the California Horse Racing Board, Scott Chaney; 1S/T Racing Chief Veterinarian, Dr. Dionne Benson; and Dr. William Farmer, co-leader of the Breeders’ Cup Veterinary Team and Equine Medical Director for Churchill Downs. With the sport and its integrity in the spotlight, the Irish innovation is sure to be adopted by more top racing organizations who are looking to ensure the best possible welfare and anti-doping practices for the horses in their care. The HorseTech Conference is the perfect opportunity for EMR to showcase their platform with equine leaders from across the world.
